"Trial" System

Once again I am almost stepping into a three system setup.

1. [Konica]Minolta/Sony A-mount

2. Panasonic|Olympus MicroFourThirds

?3. Pentax K-mount?

Bought the O-GPS1 some time ago and I have yet to get a K-r.
Thinking of getting 1 this month but I really have to do an inventory on my precious lenses and see which ones I can finally let go to cover the expense.

Meanwhile, a good read on RiceHigh's Pentax Blog

Head Grip

The AT 0.15F lives!
Still trying to extract the bass from the smallish drivers. It helps when the drivers are pressed against my ears so I got a piece of the cd-r king's headband and walah - more grip! :)

BlogMark

Been googling around for a decent adapter for my scope, i.e. 2" to T-mount, and found this site:

Telescope Camera Adapters
First time I saw this sort of one-piece adapter from cam to scope \m/
Will be back when I'm ready to get what I need.

BTW, I just created my FB account :P
Additional traffic when selling stuff :D

S-coping

Finally tried a lot of setup combination with my photo and astro stuff today that's been going through my mind for the longest time.

Did some test shots today with my scopes and Alpha and M43 mounts.
Test shots posted in flickr and "summarized" them with the image at the bottom.
Using the GH1 w/ AR102 OTA looks very promising and digiscoping with the GH1 and 20/1.7 is also another alternative - need to learn more about digiscoping.
Bottom line - more adapters in my wish list :D

The GH1 w/ 20/1.7 even works with the Bushnell 8x42 - an emergency tele setup ;)

Finally got to try my Baader Filters

Sight and Sound Match

It looks like a perfect match - sight and sound wise.
Just couldn't believe my luck in coming up with this combo.

Total cost so far:
1. Ultimate Ears SF5v2: ~USD165
2. Ear molds + Reshell c/o Stage93: USD150
3. Chris Himself Cables: USD75
Total: USD390 = ~PHP17,500

I like the coherent and natural sound I'm getting from this combo :)

New Glass in the House

Played with the Olympus M.Zuiko 45mm/1.8 tonight.
At the same time trying ISO3200 on GH1.

A keeper lens and a very usable ISO3200 on the GH1.

I am definitely downsizing.

This is Mega!

Just learned yesterday about the 41MP Camera Phone from Nokia which will be released on May.
This could be my 'touch' upgrade for my Nokia N82 :P
I am so glad that it will 'still' be sporting a Symbian OS, power to the people! :D

Sample pics can be found at My Nokia Blog

I am just crossing my toes it will be 'affordable' :D

Confusion and It's not Circle

I'm almost set to get a black Pentax K-r - white looks like a toy :P
Browsing the Pentax forum, I was made aware that a successor of the K-r is already on the way. My worry is that the successor could have a new and better sensor and is compatible with the O-GPS1 O_o

Stopped me in my tracks o_O

Mount Evolution

Been searching for a German Equatorial Mount for a scope.
Here's the mounts that I wanted to get based on size and prize:

First was the Orion SkyView Pro selling for USD399

but it didn't really look it can carry heavier scope so I looked further at something sturdier and upgradeable with automatic tracking which led me to
the Vixen GP2 which sells for USD696:

The R.A. Declination motor drive is available for USD179:

Now it's getting bigger and heavier so I searched some more and was surprised to find something 'smaller' and looks less complicated and easier to setup:
The AstroTrac which sells for USD700++

I was already set to order this when I encountered another good candidate from a well known GEQ maker:
The Losmandy StarLapse selling for USD695

So after thinking about it and almost ordering the AstroTrac,
I encountered the Pentax O-GPS1 with the AstroTracer function which really was a surprise.

I never really expected to see something from a camera maker that will help people with their astrophotography not to mention a revolutionary approach to imaging celestial bodies.
And the best part:
First, it doesn't require expensive GEQ mounts
Second, it's so small and
Third, it's so affordable!

The Pentax O-GPS1 is selling for ~USD250.

It works with the Pentax K-5 and K-r. Hoping to get a pair soon :)
